I've had the distinct pleasure of working with a wide variety of people of different nationalities, from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, and with various skills and talents. Everybody's journey through life is unique. Our journey informs our own unique opinions, perspectives, and attitudes.

Bringing diverse perspectives together toward a common goal creates synergy, whether at work, in the community, or in a social setting. Attacking a problem from a variety of perspectives brings a degree of efficiency and circumspection to a solution that sheer effort cannot provide.

Homogeneity is the scourge of any creative team. To bring a broad combination of personalities and perspectives together breathes new life into an organization. Diversity is an asset that is to be cultivated and treasured.

Communication

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in today's work environment. I hope that my written dexterity and style make themselves apparent as you make your way through this document. My employers appreciate my composition skills, tasking me with writing and editing press releases, government RFPs, website copy, and lesson plans.

In my role as Course Director at Aquatic Safaris, I've used many hours of classroom teaching to hone my public speaking skills. Since I'm largely responsible for my own enrollments and course logistics, I've developed a comfort and proficiency with sales and interpersonal business communications as well.

I value brevity and clarity in my speech and writing. I work to maintain an appropriate level of formality and professionalism while keeping my tone light enough to remain interesting and understandable. With my background in teaching, I've become especially adept at presenting complex topics in ways that are easy to grasp.

As a licensed captain, I've learned to live by a professional code of ethics. I take pride in my work, always finish the job at hand, and place integrity and the safety of others ahead of all other priorities.

Professionalism is the process of setting high and consistent expectations of yourself and your team, then working to consistently exceed those expectations. It means establishing an integrity and consistency in your actions that other people can trust and rely on.
