Brad Butler's Portfolio

You only live once. But if you do it right, once is enough.

- Mae West

I try to live an exciting and adventurous life. I'm a professional scuba instructor, a semi-pro nature photographer, and a (very) amateur musician. This page tells a little bit about my interests and hobbies. Thanks for taking a look!

The great outdoors

From the mountains to the sea, North Carolina to Malaysia, I've spent much of my life exploring the outdoors and bringing its wonders to other people. Whether I'm cycling through Raleigh's greenways, photographing sealife on a World War II shipwreck, or hiking through the Appalachian Mountains, I'm at home when I'm in nature. Sharing that love with others continues to be an important part of my life.

Through the Lens

Photography is a medium that allows both the photographer and the viewer to explore the world in a deep, meaningful way. I've had the pleasure of photographing some of the most amazing and beautiful people and places on earth, both above and below the water. I'm proud to say that my work has been published a few times. I plan to post a selection of my work here soon.

Rhythm & Harmony

Some of my earliest childhood memories involve learning to use a record player and a cassette machine. My first favorite band was the Rolling Stones, and I played "Start Me Up" at any opportunity. I've since learned to play a number of instruments, but I mostly stick with the guitar today. I play a rescued Fender Stratocaster that I've touched up and refurbished, but I'm still very much a beginner.
